GM Ildar Ibragimov

Originally from the Soviet Union, Ildar is now living in New Haven, Connecticut. He was the New York State Champion in 2001 and is the current Connecticut State Champ. Adding to his of titles, he tied for first in the 2002 Foxwoods Open. Ildar has a sharp uncompromising style. He seems to play more classicaly with the black pieces as with white he played 1.b3 in a crucial last round NY Masters battle against Igor Novikov. With the black pieces he basically stays with double king pawn. As of November 2002, Ildar is ranked number 13 in the USA.
